Word of mouth defines a word passed among multiple people, it is used for promotional purposes and marketing strategies and is capable of influencing the purchasing choice of millions of consumers. 

Word of mouth is one of the earliest forms of advertising used for the sponsorship of products and services.

This consists in "reviewing" purchased products in a very spontaneous way, that is, by talking about them directly with people.

In practice, a consumer tries a product and talks about their experience to friends, relatives, and acquaintances, therefore, they have unwittingly sponsored this product using the technique which is word of mouth.

Word of Mouth Techniques

The marketing strategies concerning word of mouth are various, namely: 

  • The word-of-mouth-marketing: that is, the classic “word of mouth”; 
  • Viral marketing: which exploits the communicative ability of a few interested subjects to transmit a message to a large number of end users;
  • Influencer marketing: a type of marketing focused more on influential people than on the target market itself.
  • Sharing personal experiences with those who are willing to listen is an advantage that should not be underestimated.

    In word-of-mouth marketing, customer care is crucial and is determined by several factors: 

    • Treating customers well: putting efficient products on the market that solve a customer's problem will make them satisfied and help share their positive experience with others;
    • Encouraging and motivating customers to speak well of the products: the key strategy is to highlight the competitive advantage that can be gained through the use of that product.

    Finally, if the customer is satisfied, they will speak well of your product which will help you increase leads and will lead your company to success.
