What is the contact form

The contact form is an element of the website that allows the user to enter and send data directly to the site owner, creating a lead (a potential customer) for a given product or service.

The main purpose of the website is to get the user to fill out the form making it as interesting as possible to increase conversions.

What does the contact form consist of?

The contact form is structured with these elements:

  • Label: meaning labels that are associated with each form element (e.g., first name, last name, etc.);
  • Tag select: an element that allows for multiple choices from a list of specific entries (drop-down menu);
  • Checkbox: a form element with which the user can make multiple selections. It is also used for accepting privacy and cookie policies;
  • Text area: a special type of label that allows the user to write a relatively long text;
  • Input: the button for submitting the user's request.

The contact form on websites can be developed in many different ways regarding layout and number of fields.

There are many ways to develop a form on websites, the most used include:

  • Form in Html: a type of form now rarely used, simple and basic;
  • Form Php: a very commonly used type of form that allows the creation of elaborate and dynamic forms;
  • Form generated through shortcode: often made in php which through CMS systems like Framework360 calls the form itself by the name of the form inserted in square brackets e.g. [form name].

In many platforms (including Framework360), in addition to sending the site manager the data results, a thank-you email is also sent to the client themselves.

A contact form is essential for having a successful website and is a decisive element in converting users into customers.
