What are ad impressions

Ad Impressions are simply the total number of times an advertisement is viewed, whether online or on mobile. Practically speaking, an impression occurs when a user opens an app and is presented with a banner or video.

Ad impressions refer to display advertising campaigns (a form of advertising that uses spaces provided by publishers and website owners for placing banners or other advertising formats), and the advertiser pays each time his ad is viewed by a user.

Types of Ad Impressions

There are two types of ad impressions in advertising:

  • Published impressions: meaning standard impressions that are recorded and counted by the server regardless of whether the ad is placed in an advertising space where it can be seen by the end user;
  • Viewable impressions: are impressions that are visible to the user for at least 50% of their area for at least one second.
  • Why are ad impressions important?

    The reason why ad impressions are very important is quite simple: it is the most frequent purchasing method in digital marketing and they are very useful because they represent the number of times a user views an advertisement, regardless of whether they click on the banner

    Your advertising is presented to various users across one or more marketing channels, there are also tracking systems for impressions.

    This type of system is widely used by advertisers because it helps to always keep track of user movements, assigning the conversion (when a user takes a specific action that is important for your business) to the channel where the advertisement was seen.
