What is the Cost per Contact

The cost per contact or CPC is the cost that the advertiser pays to generate leads through advertising means. It is one of the efficiency indicators of direct marketing along with cost per response and cost per order.

The cost per contact is used in digital marketing during the planning phase of advertising campaigns with the goal to make one's brand as known as possible.

How is the cost per contact calculated?

The formula to calculate CPC is:

CPC = ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN COST / CONTACTS ACHIEVED

Example

Let's take an example:

If we create an advertising campaign with a brand awareness objective, set a total budget of 1000 euros and obtain 100 contacts, the calculation will be:

CPC = 1000 / 100 = 10 euros

The cost per contact for our example campaign will be 10 euros.
