Shortcodes (or dynamic variables) allow you to customize WhatsApp messages by automatically inserting specific recipient data (such as name, email, or order-related information).
These codes are replaced with the actual value at the time of sending.
How to Insert Shortcodes in the WhatsApp Message
This procedure applies both when creating a WhatsApp send action within a Marketing Automation and when editing a message Template.
1. Access the message editing screen:
- If you are working on a Marketing Automation, open the "Send WhatsApp message" action.
- If you are editing a template, open the Whatsender template editing section.
2. Locate the Shortcodes Table:
- On the editing screen, look for the table listing all available codes for customization. This table is usually found above the message field.
3. Copy the Desired Shortcode:
- Identify the variable you want to use (for example, customer name, email, etc.).
- Copy the exact code, making sure to include curly braces (e.g.,
{nome_cliente}).
4. Paste into the Message Content:
- Scroll down to the text field labeled Message (or Message content if you are editing a template).
- Paste the copied shortcode exactly where you want the personalized information to appear in the text.
Example: If you write: Ciao {nome_cliente}, il tuo ordine è stato spedito., the system will send: Ciao Mario Rossi, il tuo ordine è stato spedito.
5. Save Changes:
- Save the action or template to apply personalization.
Using a Custom Token (Optional)
If you are using a Whatsender Token different from the default one for sending, you can specify it in this section.
1. In the message editing screen (within Automation or Template), look for the field labeled Token personalizzato.
2. Enter your specific API token in this field.
- Note: If left empty, the system will use the default token configured in general settings.
