Mapping WhatsApp template parameters with dynamic shortcodes (Specific or Standard)

This guide explains how to link the variable parameters present in your WhatsApp template (such as nome_cliente) to the dynamic data available in the system (Shortcode), ensuring that the message sent is personalized for each recipient.

Mapping WhatsApp template parameters with dynamic shortcodes

Why do it

When you send a WhatsApp message using a pre-approved template, you need to specify which dynamic data (shortcode) should populate each placeholder (parameter) of the template.

Procedure

1. Access the WhatsApp message configuration section (whether you are creating a Marketing Automation action or configuring a Webhook).

2. In the settings section, locate the Select template field and choose the WhatsApp template you want to use.

  • Note: Once the template is selected, all parameters required by the template itself will automatically appear under the Shortcode assignment section.

3. For each displayed template parameter (labeled as Value [nome_parametro]), click on the dropdown menu to assign a value.

4. You can choose from three categories of dynamic shortcodes:

  • Specific: Contain variables related to the specific context in which the message is sent (for example, data collected from a form or related to a specific event).
  • Standard: Contain common and generic variables related to the contact or user (for example, first name, last name, email, phone).
  • Custom: Allows you to enter a static (fixed) value that will be the same for all recipients.

5. If you choose the Static value option within the Custom group:

a. An additional text field will appear next to the dropdown menu.

b. Enter the desired text in the field with placeholder Insert custom text....

6. Repeat the assignment process for all parameters required by the template.

7. Once assignment is complete, save changes to activate the configuration.
