Description: Allows you to define specific names for items and services, used exclusively during transactions with external payment platforms.
What is it for? (Practical examples)
This tool is essential to ensure that the descriptions of items sent to payment systems (such as credit cards or PayPal) are clear and compliant with your accounting or tax requirements.
- Clarify transactions: If the internal product name is "Prodotto A," but for tax reasons the transaction must appear as "Annual Software License (Code 456)," you can set the specific name here.
- Manage categories: Allows you to define a standard tax name for all products belonging to a specific category, avoiding having to set it individually.
- Standardize services: Ensures that even complex services (such as subscription plans or accommodation bookings) have a unique and recognizable name for payment systems.
Main features
The "Tax Information" module adds targeted customization capabilities to the following types of items:
- E-commerce Products
- Subscription Plans
- Restaurant Menu Items
- Accommodations and Rooms
- E-commerce Categories
Item name customization
For each of the above elements, it is possible to access a dedicated section to enter the name that should be shown to external payment platforms.
Naming priority
The system follows a precise logic for applying the tax name:
1. If a tax name is set directly on the item (product, plan, accommodation), it will be used.
2. If the item is an E-commerce product and does not have a specific tax name, the system checks if a tax name has been set on its category.
3. If no tax name is set (neither on the item nor on the category), the standard item name is used.
How to configure
Configuration takes place within the edit screen of individual items or categories.
1. Access the item management (e.g., Product, Subscription Plan, Category).
2. Find the tab named "Tax Information."
3. Fill in the field:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Product name for payment platforms | Enter the exact name you want to appear in the transaction summary sent to the payment gateway (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, etc.). |
Automatic integrations
This tool automatically integrates with the checkout process.
Application to cart
When a user proceeds to payment, the system intercepts cart data and, before sending the request to the external payment platform, replaces the item's standard name with the customized tax name you defined.
This ensures that customers see the standard name on your site while payment systems and your accounting receive the correct tax designation.
