Description: Allows you to protect access to entire pages or specific content elements within the website through the use of a password.
What is it for? (Practical examples)
This tool is essential for managing the confidentiality of information, ensuring that only users with the access key can view certain content.
- Create restricted areas: Protect pages containing internal documents, special price lists, or training materials intended only for a limited group of people.
- Manage private previews: Share a draft of a page or an event with clients or collaborators before official publication by providing them with a temporary password.
- Hide sensitive sections: Insert an exclusive download form or a private video within a public page, making it accessible only after entering the password.
Main features
The system offers two levels of protection to suit different confidentiality needs:
1. Page-Level Protection: Completely blocks access to an entire piece of content (such as a standard page, an event, or an e-commerce wishlist). Until the user enters the correct password, they will see only a dedicated login form.
2. Block-Level (Element) Protection: Allows you to insert a specific element (text, image, video, etc.) within a page, requiring a password only to view that particular block. The rest of the page remains visible.
How to configure
Configuration varies depending on whether you want to protect the entire page or just a specific section.
1. Full Page Protection
This setting applies directly to the content properties (Pages, Events, Wishlists, etc.).
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Access Password | The password the user must enter to view the content. If this field is empty, the page remains public. |
Access process: When a user tries to access the protected page, the system automatically displays a standard password request screen. Once the key is entered, access is maintained automatically for the duration of the browsing session.
2. Content Block Protection (Visual Builder)
This setting applies when using the visual builder to edit a page.
1. Add the block called "Protected Block" within the page.
2. Access the block settings.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Access Password | The specific password required to unlock this block. |
| Content to protect | The area where all elements (text, images, other blocks) that must be hidden until entering the password are placed. |
| Form Theme and Style | Options to customize the appearance of the password request form that appears instead of the protected content. |
Automatic integrations
Persistent access
Once a user correctly enters the password for a page, the system stores access. This means that the user will not need to re-enter the password when navigating between different sections of the same page or when reloading it.
Automatic login page
The system independently manages displaying the login screen. If a page or content is protected, the user is automatically directed to a form requesting the password without manual redirect configurations.
Key differences
Use Full Page Protection when you want the entire content reserved.
Use Protected Block when most of the page is public but only a small section (for example, a video or document) requires a specific password.
