This guide shows you how to set up a custom message that will be displayed to users attempting to access a protected page but who do not have the required membership.
This setting is available within the editing options of any Page or Blog Post.
Enable a Custom Access Denied Error Message
Follow these steps to configure the access denied message on a specific page or post:
1. Access the Page or Post: Go to your site's section (Pages or Blog) and open the specific content you want to protect and customize.
2. Open Membership Settings: Within the content editor, look for and click on the tab titled Membership (often identified by a diamond-shaped icon ).
3. Restrict Viewing: In the "Membership" section, locate the field Limit viewing to the following plans.
- Select one or more membership plans that must be active for the user to view the content.
4. Enable the Custom Message: Under the label Message for unauthorized users, check the box:
Show custom error message
5. Customize the Message: A text field (often a visual editor) labeled Message for unauthorized users will appear.
- Use this space to enter text, images, or design elements you want to show to users who do not have the required membership plan.
6. Save Changes: Make sure to save or update the page/post to apply the new restrictions and custom message.
From now on, when a user without the specified membership plan tries to access that content, they will see your custom message instead of the default error message.
