This guide explains how to configure the module that users will see when Live Chat requests their information before starting a conversation.

Why do this:

You can require unauthenticated users to fill out a form (e.g., name and email) before they can send their first message in the chat.

Procedure

1. Log in to the administration panel and go to the Live Chat plugin settings.

2. Click on the Display tab.

3. Scroll down to the section labeled Data Request.

4. In the dropdown menu under Data Request, select the desired option:

  • Do not request data (The chat is immediately available).
  • Mandatory data request (The user must fill out a form before chatting).

5. If you selected an option that requires data, a new field labeled Registration Form will appear.

6. Click on the Registration Form field to open the selector and choose the form you want to use to collect user data.

  • Note: The selected form will be displayed in Live Chat instead of the text field until the user completes registration.

7. When finished, make sure to save changes to the plugin settings.
