Set whether a field is translatable

This guide shows you how to configure an additional field so that its content can be translated into different languages.

Prerequisites: You must have already created or be in the process of creating an additional field.

Setting Whether a Field Is Translatable

1. Access Field Management: In the administration section, navigate to the Custom Fields management page.

2. Select the Module: In the left sidebar, under the header Select item to edit, click on the module (for example, Products, Customers, etc.) to which the field you want to modify belongs.

3. Open Field Settings: Locate the field you want to make translatable and click on it to expand its settings.

4. Check Field Type: Make sure that the field is of a type that supports translation (for example: Short Text, Long Text, Number, Visual Builder).

  • If the selected field (under the label Field type) does not support translation (for example, Checkbox or Single Image), the translation option will not appear.

5. Set Translation: In the field settings row, look for the section labeled Translations.

6. Select the Option: Use the dropdown menu and select:

  • Translatable: Select this option to enable translating this field's content into all languages configured in the system.
  • Not translatable: Select this option if the field’s content should remain unchanged regardless of the selected language.

7. Save Changes: Once you have set the option, make sure to save both the field configuration and the entire module.

Once set as Translatable, when you edit a record using this field, you will see a translation icon (a small flag or globe) next to the field, allowing you to enter values specific to each language.
