This guide explains how to enable and enter translations for the content of an additional field you have created.
1. Enable the translation feature on the field
To translate the content of a field, you must first ensure that the translation feature is active in the field's settings.
1. Access Settings: Go to the administration area and navigate to Settings (or Configuration) and select the item related to Custom Fields.
2. Select the Module: In the left panel, under the label Select item to edit, click on the name of the module (e.g., Products, Customers, etc.) where the field you want to modify is located.
3. Edit the Field: In the main section, locate the specific field you are interested in and click on it to open its settings (if not already visible).
4. Check the Type: Make sure that the field has a Field type that supports translation (for example: Short text, Long text, Number, etc.).
5. Enable Translations: In the row with the field settings, look for the section labeled Translations.
6. Set to Translatable: Select the option: Translatable.
7. Save Settings: Save the changes made to the module settings.
Once saved, the field is ready to receive translated content.
2. Entering translated content
After enabling translation in the settings, you can enter translated contents directly into the record where the field is used.
1. Go to Record: Navigate to the edit page of the record (for example, a product or customer card) where the additional field is present.
2. Find the Tab: Look for the tab containing additional fields. The tab name will be what you set as Tab name (or if no custom name was set, it might be called Additional fields).
3. Locate the Field: Find the field for which you want to enter a translation.
4. Open Translation Interface: Next to the field label (e.g., Field name), you will notice a language icon (<i class="fa fa-language"></i>).
5. Enter Translations: Click on the language icon. A window will open allowing you to enter content specific for each language configured in the system.
6. Save Record: Enter translated contents and save the entire record to apply changes.
The field’s content will now be displayed in the correct language depending on which language is selected by the user on the frontend.
