This guide is intended for users who need to populate previously configured custom fields in the administration area with textual data (short or long).
Guide to Entering Text (Short or Long) in a Custom Field
This procedure describes how to enter text data into a custom field (such as "Short text," "Long text," or "Formatted long text") associated with an item (for example, a Product, a Customer, etc.).
Prerequisites
The custom field must have been previously created and configured in the field management area (under Custom Fields).
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Access the item:
Navigate within the desired module (e.g., Products, Customers, Invoices) and open the edit screen of the specific item where you want to enter the data.
2. Locate the Additional Fields Tab:
On the edit screen, look for and click on the tab that contains the custom fields.
- If the field has been associated with a specific tab name, click on that name (e.g., "Technical Details").
- If no name was specified, look for the tab titled Additional Fields (or a similar name).
3. Find the Text Field:
Within the tab, look for the label that corresponds to the Field Name defined during configuration.
4. Enter the Text:
Depending on the type of configured field, interaction will be slightly different:
- For Short Text (Input):
Use the single-line text box appearing under the field label. Enter the desired text.
- For Long Text (Textarea):
Use the larger text area (multi-line box) appearing under the field label. Enter the desired text.
- For Formatted Long Text (TinyMCE):
Use the advanced text editor (which includes formatting options like bold, italic, lists, etc.) to enter and format content.
> Note on Translation: If you see a language icon (<i class="fa fa-language"></i>) next to the field label, it means that the field is configured as Translatable. By clicking on this icon you can enter values for different active languages.
5. Save Changes:
After entering the text, make sure to save the item (usually via a "Save" or "Update" button at the top or bottom of the page) to apply changes made in the custom field.
