Map product attributes (e.g., Brand) to specific feed fields

Why do it:

This procedure allows you to specify which attributes from your catalog (such as Brand, Color, or Size) should be used to populate the standard fields required by platforms like Google Merchant or TikTok Shop.

1. General Attribute Mapping (Brand and Custom Labels)

This section manages the mapping for generic feed fields that are not specific to variants.

Procedure:

1. Access the configuration section of the Catalog Synchronizer plugin.

2. Locate the section dedicated to Attribute Mapping.

3. For each feed field, you can choose one of the following options:

  • Use a Product Attribute: Enter the numeric ID of the attribute you want to map (for example, if the "Manufacturer" attribute has ID 5, enter 5).
  • Use Categories: To map the full hierarchy of product categories, enter the keyword categories.
  • Use a Static Value: Enter fixed text (for example, for the Brand field, if all your products belong to a single brand, you can enter the brand name as static text).

4. Brand Configuration:

  • In the mapping field corresponding to Brand, enter the numeric ID of the attribute containing brand information.
  • Note: If the Brand field is left empty, the system will automatically use your website's name as a fallback value.

5. Custom Labels Configuration:

  • The fields customlabel0 through customlabel4 can be used to filter products in advertising campaigns.
  • Unless otherwise specified, the customlabel0 field will default to categories. You can override this by entering a numeric attribute ID or a static value.

6. Click Save to apply changes to the feed configuration.

2. Variant Attribute Mapping (Color and Size)

This section is crucial if you sell products with variants (e.g., Red T-Shirt Size L). The system needs to know which attributes define Color and Size.

Procedure:

1. Stay in the configuration section of the Catalog Synchronizer plugin.

2. Locate the mapping section dedicated to Variants.

3. Color Mapping:

  • In the mapping field for Color (internally labeled as c), enter the numeric ID of the attribute managing color variations.
  • Example: If the "Color" attribute has ID 10, enter 10.

4. Size Mapping:

  • In the mapping field for Size (internally labeled as s), enter the numeric ID of the attribute managing size variations.
  • Example: If the "Size" attribute has ID 11, enter 11.

5. Click Save to confirm variant mappings.

Note: If a product has variants but you have not specified IDs for Color or Size, the product might be skipped from the feed if the system cannot identify differences between variants.
