Create a new custom order status

This guide explains how to define new custom order statuses that you can use to track the flow of your orders and send automatic emails to customers.

Why do it:

Custom statuses allow you to tailor the order flow to your specific operational needs (e.g., "Preparing", "Awaiting Payment", etc.).

Creation Procedure

1. Access the settings of the Advanced Order Statuses plugin and make sure you are on the General tab.

2. Locate the section dedicated to custom statuses and click the button to add a new status (usually labeled Add Status).

3. A new panel will open with fields to fill in:

a. Status Name: Enter the name you want to assign to the new status (e.g., "Ready for Shipping"). This name will be visible in the order status selector.

b. Label Color: Select a color for this status label. Click on the text field or the icon next to it to open the color picker.

c. Show after: Use the dropdown menu to choose where to position this new status in the general list of order statuses.

  • By selecting an existing status, your new status will appear immediately after it.
  • Selecting At the end of the list, the new status will be added at the end of all default and custom statuses.

4. Custom Email Configuration:

  • Under the Custom Email section, you can define specific email content to automatically send to the customer when an order is moved into this new status.
  • Use the provided editor to write or edit the email. If you leave this field empty, no automatic email will be sent to the customer when this status is applied.

5. After defining all details for your custom status, make sure to save changes on the settings page.

The new status will be immediately available in the status selector within each individual order's tab.
