Track the start of checkout (automatically or manually)

This guide shows you how to configure the tracking goal for the start of the checkout process within your tracking project.

Track the Start of Checkout

Follow these steps to activate and configure the "Start Checkout" goal in your project:

1. Access the Tracking section and open the project you want to modify.

2. Navigate to the Goals tab.

3. Locate the Start Checkout action box and click the Activate button.

4. In the configuration section that appears, look for the label Interception Method*.

5. Select one of the following options:

  • Intercept Automatically: If you are using the native Ecommerce platform, the system will automatically detect when a user starts the payment process. (This option is available only if you use internal domains or platform funnels).
  • Track Action Manually: If you are tracking an external site or a custom checkout, you will need to manually include specific JavaScript code on the start checkout page.

6. (Optional) If you want to send this goal to your advertising platforms (such as Meta Ads or Google Ads), find the Third-Party Tracking option and check the Enable box.

7. If you have enabled third-party tracking, configure the specific parameters for each platform (for example, purchase values or event names) in their respective sections.

8. If you chose Track Action Manually, scroll down to the Code to Include section to find the JavaScript script that you need to insert on your external site's checkout page.

9. Click the Save (or Next Step) button to save changes and activate the goal.

Once saved, the system will start tracking the "Start Checkout" event on your website based on the chosen interception method.
