This guide explains how to automatically hide phone numbers or email addresses on your website and replace them with custom text (e.g., "View Phone") to prevent scraping by bots.
This feature is managed within the Tracking goals of your project.
1. Access Goal Settings
1. Log in to the dashboard and open the Tracking project you want to edit.
2. In the project editing screen, navigate to the Goals section.
3. Locate the goal you want to configure:
- For phone numbers, look for the Phone goal.
- For email addresses, look for the Email goal.
4. If the goal is not active, click the Activate button inside the corresponding box.
2. Configure Contact Coverage (Phone)
If you are configuring the Phone goal, follow these steps:
1. Inside the Phone goal, look for the label Cover phone numbers.
2. From the dropdown menu, choose the desired option:
- Do not cover: Numbers remain visible.
- Always cover: Numbers are always hidden (both on desktop and mobile).
- Cover only on Desktop: Numbers are hidden only when users browse from a computer.
3. If you chose a coverage option (other than "Do not cover"), the field Text to cover number will appear.
4. Enter the text you want to display instead of the phone number. For example, you can write View Phone or Click to call.
3. Configure Contact Coverage (Email)
If you are configuring the Email goal, follow these steps:
1. Inside the Email goal, look for the label Cover email addresses.
2. From the dropdown menu, choose the desired option:
- Do not cover: Email addresses remain visible.
- Always cover: Email addresses are always hidden (both on desktop and mobile).
- Cover only on Desktop: Email addresses are hidden only when users browse from a computer.
3. If you chose a coverage option (other than "Do not cover"), the field Text to cover email will appear.
4. Enter the text you want to display instead of the email address. For example, you can write View Email or Click to send an email.
4. Save Changes
After configuring coverage settings for phone numbers and/or email addresses:
1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page or navigate to the first tab Project Data.
2. Click on the Save button to apply changes to your Tracking project.
The changes will be active on your website as soon as the system updates the tracking code.
