Configure the IDs and tokens for Meta Ads tracking (Facebook Pixel and Conversion API)

This guide will assist you in configuring the IDs and tokens necessary to enable Meta Ads tracking (which includes Facebook Pixel and Conversion API) within your tracking project.

This configuration is essential for measuring the performance of your advertising campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.

Meta Ads Tracking Configuration Guide

To get started, make sure you are on the editing screen of the tracking project.

1. Locate the Meta Ads Section

Scroll down the page until you find the box titled:

  • Tracking Meta Ads

2. Enter the Dataset ID (Facebook Pixel)

The first field requires the main identifier of your tracking tool.

1. In the field labeled ID del dataset, enter the numeric ID of your Meta Pixel or Dataset.

  • Expected format: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (a sequence of 12 or more digits).

3. Configure Conversions API (Optional but Recommended)

For more accurate tracking that is resilient to browser blocks, it is recommended to use the Conversions API (CAPI).

1. In the Access token API Conversions field, paste the access token generated in your Meta Event Manager.

  • Note: The small text below the field specifies: (Use it if you want to track via Conversion API).

4. Use Test ID (For Verification Only)

If you are testing the correct implementation of Pixel and CAPI, you need to enter a temporary test ID.

1. In the Test ID field, enter the test code provided by Meta (usually starts with TEST).

2. WARNING: The note below this field is crucial: NB. Remember to remove this value after completing tests.

5. Facebook Domain Verification (If Needed)

If you need to verify ownership of your domain with Meta, use the verification section.

1. Locate the inner box titled Convalida dominio Facebook.

2. In the Carica file di verifica dominio field, paste the content of the verification HTML file requested by Meta, or enter the verification code provided (depending on which verification method you are using).

6. Save

Once all values have been entered, scroll to the bottom of the form and save the project.

  • If saved correctly, Meta Ads tracking will be active on the site or domains specified in the project.
  • If you entered a Test ID (Step 4), check event flow in your Meta Event Manager to confirm data is being received properly.
  • After completing tests, return to this section and remove the Test ID to switch to production tracking.
