Why do it: These settings define which web address (source URL) should redirect the user to a new address (destination URL).
Procedure:
1. Access the redirect creation or editing screen and locate the General section.
2. In the Source URL field, enter the path of the webpage that is no longer valid.
- Note: Your main domain is automatically displayed as a prefix. Enter only the part following the site address (for example:
/old-product.html).
3. In the Type field, select the appropriate redirect code. The most common options are:
- 301 - Permanent (for a permanent change).
- 302 - Temporary (for a temporary change).
- Multiple Destinations (if the source URL should redirect to multiple destinations).
4. Depending on the selected Type, fill in the destination field:
- If you chose a standard type (e.g., 301), fill in the Destination URL field with the new page's address.
- If you chose Multiple Destinations, fill in the Multiple Destination URLs field with the desired addresses.
5. Check the redirect status:
- Tick the Active box if you want the redirect to be immediately operational.
6. Click the save button (usually Save or Apply) to confirm the settings.
