How to create a new redirect

Content:

This guide shows you how to set up a redirect from an old web address (source URL) to a new address (destination URL).

Procedure

1. Access the screen for creating or editing a redirect.

2. In the General section, fill in the following fields:

  • Source URL: Enter the final part of the web address that no longer works or that you want to redirect. (The initial part of your site's address is already displayed).
  • Type: Select the appropriate redirect code from the dropdown menu. The most common are:
  • 301 - Permanent: Indicates that the page has been moved permanently. (Recommended for SEO).
  • 302 - Temporary: Indicates a temporary move.

3. Depending on the chosen Type, fill in the destination field:

  • If you selected Destinazioni multiple (mtp), fill in the Multiple destination URLs field by entering the addresses separated by commas.
  • For all other types, fill in the Destination URL field with the final address to which the user should be redirected.

4. Check the Active box if you want the redirect to be immediately operational.

5. Click on the save button (usually located at the bottom of the page, for example Save changes) to create the new redirect.
